Recently at a launch party in Hodges & Figgis in Dublin , the latest book in the Joe Swallow murder mystery series was unveiled.
The book A Hunt in Winter is a murder mystery which is written by former Irish Times editor and former Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission member Conor Brady, tells the story of detective Swallow’s hunt for a terrifying serial murderer across Europe.
This book is the third in a trilogy that also includes A June of Ordinary Murders and Eloquence of the Dead.Each of these books track the fictional detective’s investigations in Victorian Dublin.
Conor Brady,the crime novelist gave a reading of his latest work for the assembled crowd .He also gave special thanks to publisher New Island Books as well as his family and mentioned that without their support the acclaimed series would not have been possible.
He mentioned that the book is intended to be much more than a detective story. People will also learn and enjoy a slice of sociology, a slice of Irish history as well from this book.He also elaborated on the latest plotline featuring Swallow . Joe has moved on in this book. He’s got the stripe, got promoted to inspector and has made a decent woman out of Maria, but tragedy lurks!
Joe Mulholland, former managing director of RTÉ Television who attended the event described A Hunt in Winter as a work of “factual-fiction” which is “subtle, informative and intelligent”.
